A happy ending with Happy Dive Center

Last weekend I took a family vacation to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Needless to say, I had to get a dive in. I checked out a few dive shops online and sent out emails requesting more details. Debbie, from Happy Dive Center, responded quickly and thoroughly. Along with a few other factors, this dive shop seemed like the best fit. They confirmed my hotel room number and picked me up at 7:30am on the dot Saturday morning at the main lobby.

Jonathan was to be my guide for the day. He spoke fluent English and was very friendly and informative on our drive to the dive boat. We chose to dive in Bayahibe on the Caribbean side of the island. This decision gave us the best opportunity for good diving conditions. With a total of 7 divers on a boat made for 17, we had plenty of room and it was quite comfortable.

The first dive was a shallow 20ft reef much like what we see in South Florida. With a gentle current, it was a very easy and relaxing dive. The second dive was the Atlantic Princess wreck at 30ft. With a length of 100ft, it had some nice swim-thrus and I even found a lionfish. Unfortunately, I had no spear to kill it. With a few gear issues, Jonathan effortlessly helped me resolve them which resulted in no loss of dive time. I was very pleased in the service that both Debbie and Jonathan provided and would be “happy” to use their dive services again. You can email them at: happy.divecenter@yahoo.com
